Ultras start early. Volunteers from Fort Collins and the Front Range showed up at 3:30 am to help starting setup for the race.

Keep coming... a little more... perfect! Rock star volunteer Elijah Flenner helps runners park for the race. Ultras are large scale logistical productions that rely heavily on dedicated volunteers like Elijah.

Quad Rock 50 - mitigating race waste

In order to reduce trash and adhere to covid protocols, each runner was given a reusable cup, which was used at aid stations in place of disposable cups. The current Larimer County landfill is expected to reach capacity by 2024 and will close, with a new one opening near I-25.

Jackson is the current QR25 course record holder and easily wrapped up the win of this year's Quad Rock 50. He was casually jogging up Mill Creek Trail in this photo and said with a slight smile, "I'm only jogging because of the camera." I laughed out loud because I'm pretty sure he didn't walk a single step of the day, cameras or not. He's an enduro machine!

Quad Rock 25 - On Native Land

Becca Jay (117) brings awareness to the fact that the Quad Rock takes place on ancestral lands of Arapaho, Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), Cheyenne and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux) indigenous groups. What is now Colorado was stolen from indigenous groups via a series of land "cessations" in the mid to late 1800s.

Quad Rock 25 - Running for Justice

Becca Jay (117) hugs her son at the Arthur's Aid station. The running for justice bib pinned on Becca's shorts is to raise awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). Accurate statistics are difficult to obtain, but without a doubt, indigenous women are victims of violence and murder at staggeringly high rates.
